1.05 Århus - Skanderborg

On this leg of the route, you follow the trail markers from Aarhus to Silkeborg, though there are occasional junctions where it’s helpful to consult a map.

From downtown Aarhus, you’ll follow a busy bike path. Just before Brabrand Sø, the hiking trail branches off to the left of the bike path, and you’ll walk south past Brabrand Sø and Årslev Engsø through a dense forest. In the distance, you can see the E45 highway, which you’ll pass under at Harlevholm. Behind the golf club, turn left. The route to Jeksen takes you through a stream valley with plenty of forest, and there is a significant elevation gain to tackle. The ground can be very muddy depending on the season. From Jeksen to Skanderborg, you’re back on the country road. In Skanderborg, there don’t seem to be any trail markers, or perhaps the route has changed. Trains run from Skanderborg to Aarhus and Silkeborg.
