From Blumberg, the route first heads up to the Buchberg and then continues eastward across its plateau. It then follows a pleasant path down the southern slopes into a valley with some commercial development. The route continues mostly through the forest to Randen and then through a fairly flat wooded area to the Blauer Stein, the first evidence of volcanic activity in the Hegau region. It descends through meadows and fields to Riedöschingen and climbs back up again in a similar fashion. Now, on a scenic high-altitude trail, wooded sections alternate with sections offering great views until the route finally descends to Engen.
