From Sachsenhausen Wendelsplatz, the route follows the edge of the Rhine Valley through a large forest to the outskirts of Neu-Isenburg. From there, the E1 continues on very flat terrain through dense forests, consisting mostly of beech and oak trees, all the way to Dreieichenhain, just before Götzenhain. This section features a very long stretch of straight path. Almost 2 km, as straight as a string, intersected only by County Road 3117.
In Dreieichenhain, you pass by the impressive castle ruins and walk through the town gate. Here you enter a tranquil old town, which, with a little imagination and an eye for the past, can give the observant visitor a sense of what life was like there many years ago. The 50th parallel runs through the town and is marked with lights in the ground and an information sign. You should also stock up on supplies here, as you won’t come across any shops again on the E1 until you reach Ober-Ramstadt.
