Stage description
The E 1 trail initially winds its way around Bad Berleburg. You cross the Eder River and pass through Raumland. Soon after, the trail heads uphill again into the forest, partly along faint paths. In the middle section of the stage, stretches of forest alternate with scenic routes through meadows and fields. After passing through the village of Stünzel, the route follows forest roads southward through the woods for long stretches. Finally, you reach the grounds of the Schloss Wittgenstein boarding school. Passing the castle, the route descends steeply along a footpath to Bad Laasphe.
