Stage description

From Bad Laasphe, follow the road to the Friedrichshütte railroad crossing; just past the tracks, turn right and head up into the forest. The trail climbs gently through mostly deciduous forest, later passing through what remains of the coniferous forest, which has been cleared due to drought and bark beetle infestation. Shortly after the rest area at the Großgemeindestein, the trail descends relatively steeply to the right into the Ilse Valley. Then, follow a beautiful but sometimes difficult path along the Ilse to its source – one of the most scenic valley trails since Flensburg. Then head right uphill and soon follow a path parallel to a road to Lahnhof.
