From Lahnhof, the route heads west, first along beautiful forest trails, then on forest roads, and then back onto charming paths and trails down to Deuz. Some of the trail markers are missing in this section, partly due to fallen trees. So we went straight at an intersection and happened to find a nicer alternative route (which I had planned anyway but supposedly hadn’t found) between two intersections of the E 1.
At Deuz, follow the Sieg for a bit, turn left through the industrial area, then turn right and head steeply uphill past the sports field; as you leave town, turn right onto a path that climbs relatively gently and currently offers some nice views due to recent deforestation. At a lumber yard, take the poorly marked path to the right, which soon leads to Hasenbahnhof (which is not currently signposted as such).
The route then descends along forest trails to Siegen. There, the path runs mainly through green spaces and residential neighborhoods. A final climb leads to the Upper Castle before you pass through the Old Town and cross the Sieg River to reach the train station.
To see the observation tower on Rabenhain and to avoid walking through the city, you can also take an alternative route https://www.hikr.org/tour/post171250.html starting from Hasenbahnhof.
This stage is part of the SGV Hauptwanderweg 2: Rothaarweg hiking trail.
