Stage description

From Niedermarsberg, the route first follows the Sauerland Forest Trail up to Obermarsberg, which boasts two Gothic churches well worth a visit (the Forest Trail does not pass directly through the village). It then winds around Kalvarienberg and continues along the slopes of the Diemel Valley, offering beautiful views, before finally descending towards Kluskirche. Now continue on to Helminghausen.

Sights

Obermarsberg

Obermarsberg is a district of Marsberg situated on a plateau, which offers some historical sights. The E1 leads past the Drakenhöhlen (Dragon caves), the Buttenturm, the Stiftskirche St. Petrus und Paulus (collegiate church of St. Peter and Paul), the Nikolaikirche, the old town hall with pillory and other, partly medieval buildings. Almost like a little time travel into the past.
