E1 West variant/Schlei-Eider-Elbe hiking trail

The western section of the E1 follows the "Schlei-Eider-Elbe" walking trail between Schleswig and Hamburg-Blankenese. At 260 kilometres in length, it is considerably shorter than the main E1 route (approximately 365 kilometres between Schleswig and Hamburg), which runs through the east of Schleswig-Holstein.

The E1 West route, or the Schlei-Eider-Elbe walking trail, is considered to offer less varied scenery than the main E1 route. Nevertheless, a walk along this North German trail is well worth it, as it features some charming sections.
