Stage description

The walk starts in Dörpstedt and heads south. At the end of the village, the road ‘Seewiesendamm’ branches off to the right from the main village road. Follow this road straight ahead. At a junction where the road ‘Norderdeich’ meets the road ‘Westerdeich’, turn right. At the 'Redder' road, turn off again, this time to the left. The route runs mostly parallel to drainage channels across many fields to the pretty village of Bergenhusen. There you will find a church and typical half-timbered houses.

Just past the village of Bergenhusen, turn right. An 8-kilometre stretch of tarmac lies ahead.

Alternatively, you can continue straight ahead. (The routes are roughly the same length, but the alternative route involves 2 kilometres less tarmac.)

Both routes end at the B202 (Erfder Damm), which you cross. You then follow the old railway embankment to Erfde, where there is a small supermarket.

Leave Erfde via Süderende. Turn right onto Ramholm and follow it to the village of Scheppern, where you turn left. Shortly afterwards, the path splits; here, take the path slightly to the right, which runs in a wide arc close to the River Eider as far as Pahlen, where you cross the River Eider. There is a lot of tarmac on this stage!
