Stage description

From Freilingen, a wide farm road leads downhill to Maxsein. The route continues along a forest path to Selters. There, it might be worth taking a short detour into the village (bakery, kebab shop, etc.). The E1 follows wide paths – sometimes paved, sometimes gravel – as it winds steadily up and down past Wirges to Staudt. On the right-hand side, you can see two towers on the opposite slope: a radio tower and the “Auf dem Köppel” tower, which the next stage passes just by. A small highlight is the Steimel Chapel, and then you’ve reached Montabaur. Passing through a not-so-pretty industrial park, you arrive at the old town with its castle.
