The southern section of the E1 in Campania follows the Alta Via del Cervati e degli Alburni through the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park over six days. The park was established in 1991 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The route passes by Monte Cervati (1,899 metres above sea level), the highest mountain in Campania, from which the park takes its name.
The Associazione GET Vallo di Diano offers information and support on planning and organising a hike.
The continuous route of the E1 ends in the south at Fortino in Campania. The missing link in Basilicata and Calabria is currently being developed. It is not until Sicily that the E1 continues again.
