We take the road towards M. Cervati.
After a short climb, we take a path that veers right and climbs south-east towards Fossa la Vacca, eventually joining an unpaved road that winds its way uphill from the tarmac road and continues to climb until it reaches a saddle dominated by the majestic Cervati. A little further on, at the end of the track, we take a path that climbs south-eastwards towards Calata dei Vaccari.
We come across another unpaved track that leads to the start of the Cervati Gravittoni geological and natural history trail. The area is characterised by a complex system of sinkholes, chasms and limestone rocks of spectacular shapes, set amongst a forest of tall beech and yew trees.
After crossing the Gravittoni valley, we continue south-east through woodland and across open ground, eventually returning to the mountainous terrain.
After leaving the Gravittoni, we come to a clearing from which we can admire the overhanging walls of Mount Cervati; following the markings, we head south-east for a short distance along a path that leads onto an unpaved road coming up from Piaggine.
We follow the road that leads uphill through the Temponi Forest.
At a small clearing, we take a path that climbs along a narrow gully and crosses an impressive plateau through the undergrowth of tall beech trees. After a final climb, we reach the green plateau at the foot of the northern bastion of Mount Cervati, where the Cervati Mountain Hut is situated.
