Stage description

Late May to early June is an excellent time to hike this section of the E1. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite manage to find the start in Crespino (at the edge of the village, path 535 is supposed to lead up to the E1). We therefore followed the road until the E1 (which is generally very well signposted as a GEA here) crossed it. Here we turned left towards a farmhouse. The signpost by the road pointed in the opposite direction. You continue down the path to the stream, which you cross via a small bridge. Here, you have to go right past a barn and over a fence, after which markings reappear immediately in the woods. Follow this path uphill to Poggio degli Allochi. From here, the route continues as a lovely ridge walk, mostly on trails, with short sections on wider paths, to Passo del Muraglione.
