Stage description

At the edge of Scheggia, turn left towards La Pineta. At the bend, turn right and follow this poorly marked path until it joins a tarmac road. Follow this road to the right, climbing steadily, then briefly downhill again. Continue along the main path through the beech forest. After a while, leave the path and head uphill to the left. A short while later, follow signpost 2 steeply uphill to the edge of the forest. At a junction, follow signpost 2A. Now head downhill until a refuge appears on the right. Continue on to Val di Ranco.
