Stage description

From Duolbajarcopma, the trail follows the course of the river and crosses it twice. It is also possible to stay on the east side, where you can easily cross the outlet of a lake and then follow the slope to avoid the wetlands.

The trail then follows reindeer fences, first south, then southwest, up the slopes of Gildossoaivi. It crosses a valley - surprisingly dry - and climbs up to Holvungielas, again following a fence for a long stretch.

Then the trail leaves the fence and crosses the Leaktojavri River.

If you plan to stay at the Bastingammen hut, it’s best to stay right by this fence and follow it all the way to the hut—it’s easy. That way, you’ll avoid having to wade across the Leaktojavri twice. The new Bastingammen hut is located on the east side, where the Leaktojavri is much wider and cannot be crossed while wearing shoes.
