Stage description

After Ragesluoppal, the next river crossing soon follows – across the Ragesjohka, which is already flowing quite strongly after heavy rain. The trail then winds through marshy terrain in places, passing many lakes, before beginning the descent through the forest toward Masi. There are many turnoffs here and only a few markers, but presumably all paths lead down into the Kautokeinoelva valley. Once there, you follow this river for a while through a landscape unlike anything you’ve seen since the North Cape: dense forest on both sides of the river, meadows with beautiful farms, and cows grazing in the fields. Crossing a bridge, you finally reach Masi. The supermarket is highly recommended and offers everything you’ve been looking forward to since the North Cape or Olderfjord. The owner, Ove, is very friendly and helpful while you shop.
