After the relatively short stages that came before, this one is significantly longer. The start, however, is quite easy. The route initially follows paved paths to the Altevatnet dam. Here, you also pass the outskirts of the village of Innset, which extends further downstream. Here you’ll also find the husky farm run by German-Norwegian Björn Klauer, where you can even stay overnight. Signs along the way indicate that you can even arrange to be picked up at the dam for this.
Beyond the dam, the trail climbs again along a farm road that runs above a river and gradually turns into an ATV track. After about 8.5 km, you reach a river crossing with good camping spots next to the track. Here, the hiking trail leaves the ATV track. The ATV track leads to a Sami settlement slightly above the hiking trail. The E1, however, runs slightly lower through a slightly marshy and extremely mosquito-infested area (certainly depending on the season and weather). After a while, you emerge from this valley. When the hiking trail then turns southward, you can already see Torneträsk below you. However, you only have to descend halfway to reach Lappjordhytta. This, for now, the last Norwegian hut, offers once again fantastic views of the lake.

The E1 follows the Nordkalottruta / Nordkalottleden - except some smaller parts - from Kautokeino (E1 stages 01.16) close to Sulitjelma (E1-Etappen 07.08 / 08.01). The book describes the trail in detail from Kautokeino to Abisko and in shortform to an exit in Sulitjelma.
