A very long stage, though not particularly difficult from a technical standpoint. Anyone starting from the south and hoping to find a good campsite a few kilometers before Daertahytta will, unfortunately, be disappointed. A rocky plateau is not ideal for camping. Then the northern part of the stage becomes quite marshy in places. However, the section between the two lakes after 9 to 10 kilometers is, provided you don’t step into “the hole” that some hikers apparently fall into, relatively harmless compared to the spot a good kilometer further on. Most impressive is the mighty Skaktarelva, which must be crossed at a wide but shallow ford with slippery stones. Afterward, the trail leads uphill between the two peaks of Jerta. Halfway down the descent into Dividal, you’ll find the Dividalshytta. Here, in the heart of Ovre Dividal National Park, you have a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape, especially down into Dividal.

The E1 follows the Nordkalottruta / Nordkalottleden - except some smaller parts - from Kautokeino (E1 stages 01.16) close to Sulitjelma (E1-Etappen 07.08 / 08.01). The book describes the trail in detail from Kautokeino to Abisko and in shortform to an exit in Sulitjelma.
