Stage description

This stage follows the shores of the Altevatnet reservoir the entire way. The first section winds through a birch forest on the lake’s northern slope. Around the halfway point, the landscape opens up, offering stunning views of the lake and the scenery ahead. You’ll cross a bridge and then head toward a summer cottage settlement on the lakeshore. Here you’ll find many tracks left by ATVs and quads, so it can sometimes be difficult to stay on the right path. Beyond the settlement, the trail climbs uphill again. The Altevasshytta is located slightly above the lake. Note: you cannot use the DNT key here. You must book the cabin in advance and will then be sent the code for the combination lock. The Innset settlement is located nearby, so you’ll have reasonably good cell phone reception here.
