Stage description

On this leg of the hike, you’ll mostly follow the rocky banks of the Kopmajoki River. You’ll need to cross the river three times along this stretch, and it’s advisable to put on your wading boots for all three crossings. After passing the river’s headwaters, the trail gradually descends over easy terrain, partly along ATV tracks, to Pihtsusjärvi and the cabin of the same name. Since this cabin lies on the way to Halti, you’ll find many hikers here who are either planning to climb Finland’s highest peak or are just returning from the summit.
