Stage description

This short 3-kilometer stretch between the two open huts in Norway and Finland has a lot to offer: in addition to crossing the border, you’ll need to climb over a reindeer fence and cross three or four branches of the Sieiddejohka River. For at least two of the river branches, it’s a good idea to put on your wading boots. Depending on the water level, you can also walk across the rocks in late summer.

The E1 follows the Nordkalottruta / Nordkalottleden - except some smaller parts - from Kautokeino (E1 stages 01.16) close to Sulitjelma (E1-Etappen 07.08 / 08.01). The book describes the trail in detail from Kautokeino to Abisko and in shortform to an exit in Sulitjelma.
