6.3 Niedersfeld - Oberkirchen

The trail first winds around Niedersfeld and then climbs through the forest to the St. Blasius wayside shrine. After a short stretch along a scenic path, it descends again on a forest road to Silbach. After passing through the village, the route climbs again along forest roads to the “Marktplätze” intersection and through the woods into the Renau Valley. Here, there is a section on a nature trail with footbridges before the path climbs more steeply to the northern slope of the Kahler Asten. This is reached via a forest path that curves eastward. After visiting North Rhine-Westphalia’s most famous – though not highest – mountain, the route descends along forest paths into the upper Lennetal valley and around the Hoher Knochen and the Hömberg down to the half-timbered village of Westfeld. Then it climbs once more, past a chapel, offering scenic views over Oberkirchen, and finally descends slightly back into the village.
